Re: Carbon Fibre tubing

Give Skycraft hobbies in Ontario a call. They used to sell tons of carbon fiber tubing. I don't think it's on their website, but calling would figure that out.

Re: Carbon Fibre tubing

Ok.. here is a method that I have not personaly tried with fiber glass .. but rather with old printer paper and white glue... I cut the paper into 1 inch wide strips and then soaked them in thinned white glue.. then wrapped them in a sprial around a tube.. then I reveres the spiral.. and then reversed again ,, you get the idea... did this for about ten layers then let it dry.. and we ended up with a nice solid paper tube.. stuffed a motor mount and engine in it.. and added a nose cone and tail feathers.. got you curious ??? my second daughter and her class where suppose to build model rockets and not from kits either.. my opion a stupid thing for the teacher to do,, but anyway she got top marks for it.. likely because it was the only one that got off the ground.. they saw the chute deploy and watched it drift over the school never to be found again..

Now if you where to buy 3 aluminum wing tubes the size you want then using one of the tubes as a mold you would coat with a mold release wax then using the same method above only with fiberglass and resin you could make great tubes to build into the wing that exactly fit the tubes you are using.. beef up 3 or 4 ribs that you will epoxy the fiber tubes into.. then just attach the wing in what ever fasion you do now or invent a new way to do it..

regards jeff
