I regret to advise that former HHMFC member, Bill Brandow died Friday after
a very long illness. Bill was another superb builder and flyer who joined
our club at the beginning. He was a mentor to many and heavily involved in
pylon racing in the seventies and early eighties.

Funeral will be at the JS Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road,
Georgetown, on Wednesday, February 6th at 11 AM.

R.I.P. Bill

Re: We've lost another.

Bill was was just a super guy, love to talk about building rcplanes, flying and of course pylon racing.
Bill and myself helped get the old Georgetown club organized and made the first club field on Mountainview RD., back in 1970.
He also got a few of the members into pylon racing in the mid seventies and we raced at the club for a few years.
He will be missed by many of us, GO FAST, TURN LEFT, Big Guy.

Bill was a consummate flyer, and could fly anything.
He was always willing to help out a newbie.
I have fond memories of him.

Re: We've lost another.

I'm sorry for your and your clubs loss. I think its very important to remember these fellow modelers, what they brought to our lives and to our clubs. The general theme I'm seeing here is that all of these people gave back to the hobby that they loved, they volunteered their time, knowledge and experience. Lets keep their memory alive and honor them by doing the same.

Re: We've lost another.

As I grew up in the 80's, Pylon racing was at its peak in southern ontario, and Bill Brandow was at the fore front. Bill and his son Robert were a tough, competive team. I can still remember his beautiful Formula 1s... Bright white with red and blue trim. We last raced each other in orangeville a few years back... always fast, always smiling.

You will be missed Bill..... R.I.P.

Re: We've lost another.

As the founder and first President of the HHMFC, I first met Bill more than 20 years ago. He was always a first class gentleman, who would always help out a fellow modeler whenever he could. However come race time, if given the chance, he wouldn't hesitate to let you know who the master was!...

I'm sure the set of wings he has now, are the best ones he has ever owned...

Rest In Peace... Mr. Brandow.

Re: We've lost another.

Very sad to hear of Bill passing. Bill taught myself and Brian Fry to fly in Kincardine from the golf course at Aintree in the late 70's. Bill was a crane operator at the Bruce Nuclear site and we discovered Bill when we were trying to learn to fly, before anyone heard of RC in that small town. Bill helped us out and along with a couple other folks was the catalyst for a club in Kincardine, one that I believe still exists. Brian, Bev, Marg and I would visit Bill at his home away from home trailer at Aintree Park he was always gracious and a great ambassador for RC. I regret never meeting back up with Bill, since we moved west while Bill was still working at the Bruce, I always thought racing against Bill would have been a real treat.

Lots of great memories, he will truly be missed. All the best to Bill's family.
