Up date on the AeroWorks Checkmate that I have built

The weight of this ARF , should be 16.5 to 18lbs. My Final Weight is 17lbs / 14oz. ( dry - no fuel ) which is top of scale With the drag and weight of this plane , I hope the D.A. 50 will be enought motor and make it a fun airplane for this coming summer .

I have enjoyed the build , and all the comments that fellow modelers have given to me over the last few weeks .

Thanks to RCCanada , with out this site we could not enjoy all the builds and talking that go on here .

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Found out that the Cabane Struts are wrong on my A/W Checkmate . Some of the early kits had the wrong ones You need neg. incidence on the top wing --- and i do NOT have that . AeroWorks will supply the right one's , but need to call them . Will be calling them this week .

I found this info. on a build form on Flying Giants .

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Glad that you shared that Ray. There may be an airframe out there that survives it's maiden. Thanks to your thread, and observation/advice.
Sure looks pretty. If it doesn't fly before April 20th Bring it down to Coronation for the first National internet Biplane fun-fly!

DA50 will be fine at 18 lbs. Remember, there was a time when all the 50cc planes were 18 lbs plus.
Will it rocket out of a hover? Maybe not, but it will fly it fine without worry.

AS Brad say. Ray this will suite your flying style well. Besides you have always loved your DA50 powered Yak. It has served you well.

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Up date on struts for AeroWorks Checkmate

Got my replacement struts today delivered to the door . As you can see in the picture 2 are longer . The back ones are 140mm ( eye to eye to center ) and the fronts are 138mm ( eye to eye to center ) This will now give me the neg. inc. that is needed on the top wing . The ones i got in the kit were all 138mm.

Anyone that is building this kit from AeroWorks should check these struts , as in some of the early kits they were the wrong lenght .
