Hi Jack;

Yes they are a nice bi - plane . Only one draw back ---- take me 20 min. to put it together for a flight , but well worth it , when you can play all day .

---- The cowl is 10 in. wide , to put a twin motor in this plane , you would need to cut opening for the sparkplugs !! It flys very nice with the D.A. - 50 that is in mine .

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

I have flown a Checkmate since they were first produced with the Saito FG57T. The engine fits entirely in the cowl with no cut outs for plugs or
cylinder heads.

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Here are some pics of the engine installation, I do not have very good ones, sorry.

I added 1/8 ply around the outer box plus another 1/4 ply firewall. The pics do not show the 1/4 ply reinforcement on the under side of the motor mount.

Everything fits neatly inside the cowl.

Plenty of power for non 3d style aerobatics, with a great presence in the air
especially on sunny days.

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Hi Doug;

When I talked about needing to make cut outs for the plugs in the cowl , a person had asked about a DLE 40 cc twin .

That is a very nice motor install in your Checkmate and I'm thinking a very nice sound when in the air . I hope you have enjoyed your Checkmate , as much as I have enjoyed mine

I see that June 25th. is going to be National Biplane Day --- hope to have mine up for some flights on that date

Thanks again for your post , for all to see
