Nead Advice on Old Easy Built Models Beaver

I am working on an old (Balsa is PRINTED, not even die cut!) Easy Built Models electric Beaver kit.The plans specify spruce stingers in the wing saddle and as cross pieces on the bottom of the fusilage. All the wood in the kit is balsa.
Does anyone among you old timers in the hobby have experience with this kit? I'm not sure where to go looking for spruce to cut to size, but I can get all kinds of pine, if that will do.
The older I get, the better I used to be!

HI, you can find spruce at your local hobby shop in the sizes you need, for sure.
