Okay noob here flying HZ supercub.
Just curious as to what wind speed most guy's will fly in. When I started out with the cub 5 km windspeed was top's. well it seem's that that does not happen much around here in the winter so I flew in stronger winds and crashed.
my flying slowly improved and I was soon able to fly in stronger winds. my limit now is 20 km's and I do not crash atoll any more "knock on wood".
So I was just wondering what others use s a max windspeed? And I do realize that bigger and heavier planes would handle more wind so plane info would be nice also

Any size plane or heli...i max out at 30 to 35 km winds. Great practice at those wind speeds.

Same here but you are always fighting the wind and it can wear you out.

Some planes can handle stronger wind conditions. I fly mainly 40-120 size nitros and have some that are great in stronger winds and some that never leave the ground.

My Ultastick 40 and CG Tiger 60 are great in wind but my GP Cub and Sig Rascal 40 are not. I have numerous others that I will fly in 0-30 km winds but anything more than that then the Ultrastick and Tiger are my go to planes.

That being said, if my brother is flying with me and it is very windy, we drag out the Spad dogfighters for some combat.....they handle tons of wind just fine.

You can fly Hitec or use the other "low tech" stuff!!

Re: wind

As long as my model's flying speed is greater than the wind speed, I'll go fly it
