Question T-Rex 600N SP Maiden/vibrations

Yesterday was beautiful here in Moncton, sunny and around -8, so I decided to maiden my new T-Rex 600.

I noticed a considerable headshake on spool up, however I wasn't too concerned. I associated the shake to initial lead/lag of the blades, and assumed the blades would find their position and the shakes would cease. At least that's what I've observed before.

However, as I continued to spool it up, it did get better but there was still a significant vibration in the head. The Governor kicked in, and although it wasn't as bad as during spool up, there is definately something out of whack.

I brought it up to hover and there was no noticeable change, in fact another weird "shake" started in the tail. It bobs up and down at a relatively slow rate....like 0.5 Hz or so.

Aaaaaannnnyway.... Here is what I've done so far with no success as of yet:

1- Static balanced the entire head (Main blades not installed)

2- Static balanced the entire head with the main blades and flybar installed

3- Static balanced the main drive gear set. These were slightly out of balance. I drilled out a very small amount of plastic to get them perfect.

4- Tried different head speeds. 1600 to 1900

5- Tried different tensions on the main blade grip bolts.

6- Main blade tracking is bang on

I thought maybe the engine was too rich, so I leaned it out one click at a time as I watched my temp ( I have telemetry installed). I was already at about 1 3/4 turns out, temp was hovering at about 178 Deg F. I turned the HS in to just a click under 1 1/2 turns. Noticed a reduction in smoke coming from the exhaust and the temp peaked at 209 Deg F.

Still no change is the vibration. As a matter of fact I can cut the motor and the vibration is present all through spool down.

I'm sifting through other threads as well as RR and Heli Freak for ideas.

Chime in if you have any suggestions

I'm going to take the tail assembly apart next to check the balancing, and check my main shaft with a dial indicator to see if it's maybe bent. However I doubt it since it's a new kit...... So I was told anyway

Got it figured......

Tracking looked perfect to the naked eye, however when I triple checked it....this time with a digital inclinometer, one of the grips was 0.8 degrees off. Went one turn in on the link and now everything is good.

0.8 degrees....... wow..... didn't think it would have cause that much vibe.

Re: T-Rex 600N SP Maiden/vibrations

was going to add check dampers and double check tracking. often you can not see it try a half turn on each ball link +/- try hover after each change. Love my 600 its an older one so stable, so smooth, I fly mostly scale no 3D, enjoy the bird !
