I would go brushless . Much less work and problems. I would recommend a vorza . buy a roller if you want to build it yourself.

SKIDOOS - I went downtown and spoke to Roger - found him very knowledgeable and helpful. I will be visiting again.

We did eventually settle on a 1/10 scale Redcat Racing SHOCKWAVE Buggy. Single speed, .15 engine, 2.4 GHz radio. It was $179, which seems very reasonable.

I's been a BLAST!!! We took our time to get the engine properly broken in, and now it runs like a dream! As was mentioned, it does require a bit of time in terms of maintenance, but it's been an opportunity to spend quality time with my son, which makes it all worthwhile.

My son crashed a few times the first 2 days, but has since learned a valuable lesson - when in doubt - PRESS THE BRAKE!!! He has come a far way in just a few weeks.

He has driven on pavement and also took it off-road. Off roading was fun, but meant spending quite a bit of time to clean up the buggy afterwards. In fact, I have taken it almost completely apart to clean, and I have waterproofed the servos and electricals, so now when he off-roads, I can just mist it with methanol and use the compressor to blow it out.

I have noticed a crack on one of the C hubs - just cracked, not broken all the way through - although I think it will break away soon. Probably the result of a hard landing from a jump. I don't think I'll rebuy the plastic part - it is very weak plastic and does have to be able to withstand quite a bit of stress. The aluminum replacements are about $24 per pair, but rather than buy them, I will try to cast them myself. If all goes well, I should be able to cast most of the plastic parts on the buggy, which, in addition to increased lifespan of the parts, will also save me a bunch of money.

I will let you guys know how it goes.

good stuff, maybe yoiu should come out to hardcore in flamborough one sunday and watch races with your son, you will get a blast watch the 1/8 scales run
