OR, MAAC could bump up the staff levels to what they had before. Fill the position with a person with the skills to up-date the computer stuff where MAAC is lacking.

Wth all due respect to RCC and Rick, whenever there is a middle-man, there is a cost. Perhaps Rick could handle the membership cheaper than MAAC could do "in house", but without MAAC willing to talk to anyone outside the organization, not much will be done!

Re: Maac payments

Happy to use my credit card. The card worked well thirty years ago, still works today and I expect it to work tomorrow. But, nothing wrong with suggesting a different method of payment, as long as the solution doesn't create more work, cost more money or is implemented at the expanse of traditional and proven practices.

Re: Maac payments

Always used Ccards...if something goes wrong, they eat the cost of finding the problem..if you use a bank card, you get an emptied account til someone finds out the problem.

EMT is not 'using a bank card'

The bank generates an email to the email address you specify, there is a link in the email to a secure site, security question and secure transaction number. Payee has to enter a security pass-phrase you sent separately (the one my tennants used was 'what is the colour of your truck') (I have sold both the truck and tennants...)

But, this takes time and effort, for me it was twice a month, for MAAC it could be thousands in December.

Re: Maac payments

The current system works for current members, otherwise they wouldn't be members.

However, new payment methods may make it easier for new members, and since the talk comes up regularly of getting new people into things, is that not a worthy goal? Youth will be much more likely to have a bank account than a credit card.

It is a matter of usability to improve conversion rates. How many people come to the MAAC site and don't sign up because it requires a credit card? Mail something in? The old school mail order days are long gone. If you want to capture the youth market, you need to modernize, not ask for all the details that would be needed for identity theft from a website that looks like it came from the 90's as an organization they have no reason to trust.
