Modifying a LiPo to fit.

I ended up with a LiPo that is a bit too long for our vehicles. The ends are little smaller than the 2 cells, and I'm wondering if its just foam padding that could be removed? Any ideas? I'm tempted to cut open the outer shrink wrap and take a look - I don't think there is any risk in removing that outer shrink wrap right?

Far as I can tell the white that you see in the end is just a 1/16 or thinner protective plastic layer. I doubt you will get much smaller than it is now and you will just expose the less robust layer underneath.

What is it going in? sometimes they have a adjustment to the battery compartment or foams that can be removed. On a side note someone pointed me to this site the other day for Lipo's

Re: Modifying a LiPo to fit.

A lipo cell is essentially an aluminum baggie sealed at one end. imagine a ziplock baggie with wires coming out the sealed end. the smaller end above is the ends of the two lipo baggies, wiring for the balance plug and main motor wires, all bundled together with some insulation and tape.

No way to shorten anything there and best to not disturb. very easy to short a cell or two fooling around in there.
