My son has purchased a Turbo Ace X830- D C-RTF quad to lift his cameras, he used to do it from a large Kite and want to give this a try, and since I have flown RC for years he has left it up to me to get it into the air (lucky me!), but I know
"didly squat" about quads with GPS- The copter is equipt with a NAZA flight controller and came with a Devo10 transmitter that is all pre-programmed and test flown.
My questions I like to get answered before I fly and crash this expensive toy are:
1- On the "Mix" switch that is 3 position is GPS, attitude and Manual- Do I take off in GPS and switch to attitude if I want to maintain a steady hover at a certain altitude?, does she maintain atltitude when leaving the throttle at a certain point?
2- The "Fmode" switch also 3 position has Off, Course lock and Home lock, do I switch to Home lock to make the copter come back to where I started from? when do I use Course lock?
3.- Can I still control the craft when its in any of the above modes, or do I have to switch to Manual mode?
4.- Will we get better lift if we switch thw supplied plastic props with Carbon Props?
The supplied manual does not really provide me with answers when and how to do what and we do not have any in my Club that flies Quads, so any help would be appriciated

Re: Quad H. E. L. P.
Plug her in...flip it to gps mode....wait the 20 to 30 seconds....until it finds the sats...and take off in gps mode....or atti mode...whichever one you want. Home lock to have it come home....just remember though....if you want to take back control at anytime....take the home lock mode off....flip it back into atti or gps. You can control the craft fully in any mode....manual mode will be alot harder....so unless youve flown a rc heli....id be staying away from manual mode until you get used to it. Atti mode is what i fly most of the time...its not as quick in response than manual....gps....nice and stable....get screwed up in orientation....flip to gps....let go of the sticks....and it hovers....as long as your throttle is over halfway of course. Plastic props are fine....start off with them...once your feeling good about things....you can switch to the more expensive blades....no use crashing on your first attempts with expensive blades....if you crash that is....heh..heh.
Youll be fine to start off in gps mode....its extremely stable....it flies itself basically.
