If so, would you be wiling to print a few smallish parts for me? I'll pay obviously.

Have you checked out shapeways?
http://www.shapeways.com/
In Europe, but prices and delivery times are better and faster than any local places.

Good idea, I'll see if I can find more details.

Re: Anyone in the GTA have a 3D printer?

A while ago(2 yrs)I modelled some dehavilland landing gear components in solidworks, and Javelin technologies in Oakville printed them. The plastic has a tendency to dry with time, moving slightly.but after seeing the results, you wonder why you dont see the current trend of 3d sintered metal parts start to invade the model aircraft world.I have now modelled a vari-pitch prop drive, and I would love to have it in metal, for durability. Can you imagine a 8ft twin electric Buffalo with reverse thrust. Re: Anyone in the GTA have a 3D printer?

There's a company in Mississauga, Anubis does 3d printing. Supply the file and they'll 'print' it.

Re: Anyone in the GTA have a 3D printer?

Lots of 3D Print service bureaus in the GTA.

Here are a few with whom I have worked:

http://objexunlimited.com/

http://www.agile-manufacturing.com/

http://proto3000.com/

http://www.additivemet.com/

As well, I own a 3D scanning, imaging and printing business but am located in the Paris, ON area. I come into The GTA about twice a month and have a friend who is a member of the Whitby R/C club.

The focus of my business is more toward the capture (scanning) or creation (3D modelling) of surface geometry and subsequent post processing and/or analysis (reverse engineering, enhancement, metrology...), but I can print PLA, ABS or TPE components that fit within a 28.5 L X 15.3 W X 15.5 H cm build box.

If you are new to 3D printing, I would be happy to help you understand the process and where to get the (free) software that would allow you to design your own components.

Alex Sorensen,

Have you talked with the folks at Additive Metal Manufacturing yet regarding your vari-pitch prop drive project?

Re: Anyone in the GTA have a 3D printer?

Afterthought.....

Check your local public library to see is they have a "Maker Space" and provide access to their members.

I have conducted some free 3D Technology workshops at the Brantford Public Library and the Maker Space manager there said that more and more public libraries are introducing 3D printing into their programs. Note that public access print services may limit the duration of a print to prevent users from "hogging' a machine.
