Re: enya 45 mk11 6002

The settings you described almost guarantee it will be too rich.

Quick and dirty is to screw the large HS needle all the way in, then back out 1 3/4 turns to start. Then if you can see the opening for the air bleed, set the screw till it covers only 1/2 the hole.

Normal procedure is to fire it up and tune the HS needle first so that it will run at peak and then back it out a couple of clicks rich. The first few times you may need to keep glow heat on till you get within range.

Only then do you work the air bleed as the throttle is dropped back down. Having a reliable idle is the first step as leaving it there for a bit and then quickly advancing the throttle will tell you the following:

A) If too rich the motor will stumble on transition, smoke a lot and slowly pick up speed.

B) If too lean the motor will die when the throttle is opened

"Tweaking" this to where it will idle all day and then ramp up to full throttle smoothly requires a motor in good mechanical condition, (primarily no air leaks) and the needle/screw adjustments at this point are relatively fine.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!
