About a month ago, I purchased a JR Helicopter tool set with the aluminum case. I used the #0 Phillips screwdriver and with very little torque on it, the tip shattered. It was an obvious manufacturing defect. I filled out a support form with Horizon Hobbies (as advised by JR directly) and was a little disappointed at one point where it said that not only was I going to have to pay the shipping to return the old tip, but pay $22.15 USD for shipping the new one to me. The replacement tip value is less than $3. So in my support form, I questioned this as being a bit ridiculous.
It took about a week to get a reply and the reply was even worse. I was told that the #0 tip has been discontinued and that was all that was said.
So once again, reply using their support form to advise that the tool set is advertised as having a three year warranty and to simply tell me that the part was discontinued and not provide any kind of resolution simply was not acceptable.
This week, I get another reply. A bit hesitant to open the e-mail after the first one, I'm now told they are sending me a new three piece set that includes the #0 Phillips, a #1 Phillips, a flat screwdriver in a plastic, foam lined case (Retails for approximately $19).
While I never should have had to make a second request for some form of resolution, I am very satisfied with the results.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but two Wrights will make an airplane.

Re: Initially disappointed....
Sounds like it all worked out in the end, But I can understand your frustration at being given the runaround on your "warranted" item
