Beginner Electric Boat

Hi all, I've been flying planes for years now and have a couple of float planes for the cottage but it's on lake Erie with water that is usually too rough to fly off of (1 foot waves are too much for my 50" Ultra Stick). So I'm looking for an electric boat that will give me the most fun (ie. fast?) for not a whole lot of cash($500 for boat and radio). Here are the questions:
- what's a good beginner boat that will be stable in some waves or at least be able to cut through them and have some fun with? I'm thinking deep V hull over catamaran? Any ideas as to what make/model and size of boat?
- I'm assuming my 2.4ghz Spectrum DX7 7 channel won't do, should I get a 2 channel with "wheel" control?
- I already have 5s 3850mah lipos, you think I can get a boat maybe 48" or so that these lipos will work with? If I have to buy more lipos that's ok, just trying to save some money here.
I'm hoping to pick up a used on on RCCanada.
any other advice would be appreciated.

Re: Beginner Electric Boat

One foot waves are a challenge for my 55 shockwave gasser - if you try to go fast.

Not sure about electrics, picked up a Stilletto 29 this spring and will try it out next week. But I would restrict that to a light chop.

Thanks for the reply John, the Stilletto looks nice, I didn't even realize they need water cooling. I'll have to do some more reading and decide...
