In Mauensee LU evening a 41-year-old man was found dead yesterday. The investigation authorities believe that the man has suffered fatal injuries while playing with a model helicopter.

A walker had reported to police that he had discovered in the area in moss Mauensee a corpse. As the Sursee prosecutor notifies the deceased had severe injuries to his head and arm. A helicopter of the type Formula Gaui X7 was secured by the police near the body.

When deceased is a 41-year-old man from the canton of Nidwalden. The circumstances of the accident and the cause of death to be clarified. The investigation leads the Sursee prosecution.

Re: Death by heli...

Truly tragic, but no more tragic than the likely hundreds of other people around the world who died on that same day from vehicle accidents, getting runover, falling off a ladder, drowning, electrocuting themselves, running with scissors, etc, etc.

Of course getting killed by a radio control helicopter is much more sensational than any of those other deaths, so that is the one that is reported. I hate the 'so called' media.

Re: Death by heli...

Everyone should practice safe flying definitely, however RC flying appears to be safer than a number of other hobbies. I came across the chart below, notice the 7 deaths by knitting...

Almost any hobby can be deadly, every few years in Ontario someone dies in a cross country mountain bike race...
