Last summer was doing a test flight on a 35% ultimate. Best test flight ever. brought it down low because it flew so good. Flat spun it into the dirt. A few fliers helped me gather the parts and we sacrificed the plane In the fire pit at our field. The flat spin gods must have been apppeased as all since have ended up as they should. Lesson learned. Try them up high till recovery tendencies at all attitudes are figured out. Dont give up .

Got lucky though as it did recover - about 20 feet off the ground!

Blender is basically roll strait down after a few rolls go int a snap with up elevator and left ruder and right aileron with a nice burst of throttle the slowly ease up to recover

This is very cool stuff. I to am just starting to learn how to flat spin on simulator. When summer comes I plan on trying it on my S Bach. Thanks for posting!

CG. Mostly because I feel that planes that are right on the CG (with a few exceptions) or slightly tail heavy, doesn't track properly, doesn't lock the lines either and it becomes more evident in the snap rolls. They will hover and torque roll just fine too.

As for the up right or inverted flat spins, I have my plane setup (YAK54 40%) with 45 degrees of elevator and 45-48 degrees or rudder.
These two surfaces are pined throughout the maneuver and then there is a balance between opposite aileron and power management. It applies to both up right and inverted flat spins.

Too nose heavy airplanes don't fly properly, too tail heavy airplanes, only fly once.

I find this bang on , very much like aligning a car ,everyone wants a car to go straight down the road , the only way to do that is to give it a very slight lead to one side. set it for dead center with no lead and you will have to constantly correct sawing the wheel back and forth . I find most planes planes very much the same , put the balance dead center and you have to chase them around . but every plane is different .. cheers Roger
