Was in Advance Hobbies a few weeks ago to pick up a $1 servo horn when I noticed a Mystique 2.9M, fully assembled and hanging from the ceiling. The price was $449 with all digital servos, (including four Spektrum 7030 HV metal geared for the wings), E-flight ESC and motor, fully built and ready to fly. Considering that this plane is $369 US just for the kit and about $400+ to fit with the recommended electronics/power... well...what a bargain. I bought it on the spot and it will join my fleet soon. With us Canadians used to paying more for quality sailplanes, it was nice to score this at about 1/2 what our US brethren pay
Redoing all the linkages to my liking and changing the rudder and elevator servos to high voltage to match the wing servos so I can run a LiFe pack without a regulator and enjoy the simplicity (and extra power) of 6.6 volts constant. Sure enough when changing one of the aileron linkages the servo came loose from its glued-on to the plywood surface... thankfully, I found that the glue used by the original builder was not up to the task...surely saved an in-air disaster. I make it a habit of checking every used plane a buy and changing anything that I'm not comfortable with.
The Mystique really is a beautiful sailplane and worth $800 in the air (which is still cheaper than most European 3M moldies ). At $449, I have a huge grin...somewhat tempered in trying to program my 11X to run this thing in the various flight modes.

Good for you Lorne, have fun with it. Nothing like seaching for thermals on a warm sunny day.
