+1. But I dont think the "pilot" will become extinct, he just wont be IN the plane.

As the technology for remotely piloted vehicles increases, a remotely piloted fighter is on the horizon. The benefits are the plane can be smaller and lighter, does not have to have protection for the human pilot, can be designed to fly with higher G loading than current planes are designed to operate within (for the purpose of protecting the pilot from excessive G forces) and if the plane is shot down behind enemy lines, we dont lose the pilot, he can fly another plane as fast as they can pull it out of the hangar.
