In the real world that is not the case or should it be. The seller is responsible for getting your purchase to your door and if he deems it necessary to have the parcel insured then that's his cost for doing business. If there is a claim through loss or damage the seller not the buyer will be submitting the claim. Most will know if you yourself are sending a parcel you are asked if you want insurance or additional if the service already has coverage.
And here's the clincher. Priority, Xpresspost and Expedited services all include $100 free coverage.
Call it something else GH, perhaps a handling fee?
I believe there is a thread all about the recent troubles over the last 6 months or so with great hobbies.

Might want to post this there as this is a thread on Hobbyking, not Great Hobbies.

PS. I have to wonder what kind of world we are in when a company can have a person drop a package on the concrete at my door and run away(literally) and possibly send me a bill 4 weeks later that I have to pay. Something is wrong with that picture. If they don't collect at the door it should be their problem.
No additional charges received. Two further orders processed and received.

also reducing the value of the shipment can become a real issue if ever questioned....I always have the shippers declare full value of the shipment.

EMS out of China/Taiwan works great.
nobody I know has gotten any follow up charges when using Purolator from the US Warehouse. And the shipping fees are crazy low too. So there you go.

I have had 7 order from HKUSA since January, and no extra charges incurred. Usually arrives in 2-3 days, which is 1-to-10 weeks faster than from Great Hobbies.
