Multi Blade Question (Scale Rotor Head)

Alright, Since I don't fly helis much anymore I'm in need of advice. I just acquired an Align Trex 500 DFC. I'm planning on doing a scale heli with this machine this winter, but for now I am going to fly as is. So my question is this, is there an FBL controller that is better for multi blade heads (5 blade in my case), but will also be fine for a stock FBL head?
Please excuse the ignorance of this question, I'm just having a hell of a time trying to find a an answer. Ideally I would prefer a CGY750 as I have used futaba for pretty much everything I do, but if there is another option more suitable to my needs I'm all ears.

Cheers

Re: Multi Blade Question (Scale Rotor Head)

Any good quality FBL stabilizer would do the trick, since the stabilizer senses motion in the 3 axis and outputs the appropriate command to the servos. This is regardless of the rotor head type.

Some larger helis do not require any FBL stabilizers. As long as the swash has the proper recession to the blade, the multi-blade heli can be flown without an FBL stabiliser. That being said, an FBL stabiliser on a heli like this just makes it that much nicer to fly

Hi, there is the four blade Allied head for 500 size heli. Wonder if anyone used it and how good it is?
Enjoy your build!

thanks
Francois

Re: Multi Blade Question (Scale Rotor Head)

There are two ways to adjust the phase angle; rotate the swashplate follower or by electronic means in the FBL gyro. Doing it electronically allows better alignment of the pitch rods.
See picture.
I know the Skookum and Bavarian Demon FBL gyros have the phase trim feature.

Re: Multi Blade Question (Scale Rotor Head)

The part number for the Align four blade head is H50145. I have seen it listed on eBay for 70 bucks, US. It is a Plug 'n Play head that does not need to be mechanically phased in order for it to work. Any three axis gyro will work with it. You can add the BeastX and AR7200BX to the list of gyros that have electronic phasing capability as long as you have the USB cable. Hope this helps.
