Good service is when you don't need service. Sending in engines that don't run sucks even if they get repaired for free.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Thanks Jack!! Agree 110%. Despite all the changes, DA's service is still the benchmark that everyone aspires to. The good news for us customers is that if anymore comes up with better service (if there's such a thing), we win

Competition is a wonderful thing!!

There you go sounding like an MVVS, or 3W owner/flyer.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I thought I stated my position fairly well, my engine might be old, but by the feel of it doesn't have much run time on it. I don't expect it to be repaired for free. I always pay my own way. Some people get a few flights in and put 'em away for whatever reason for X amount of time. I don't know it's whole history, but what I do know is it has never had the up-grades offered.

I respect their service and supply policies. I've learned of some of their short-comings in new designs. But I personally won't spend more than 50% of the value of a new engine on repairs. A rebuilt S/N 1234 engine is still a old S/N1234 engine.

Send me your digits Jack and if they want 400 bucks to fix a 500 dollar engine it's yours.

LOL!! Brent - I guarantee you they'll do all the upgrades for free (they'd better!!). I'm sure whatever else they find, will be free also. Let's just hope they don't conclude that the issue was your carb, LOL

That is reasonable. I wouldn't spend more than 50% either. I would ask that the engine be returned so I could pick with it and find a whacked engined for parts.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

This is why I avoid cameras like the plague. If my picture was ever taken, everyone that saw it would see the "Screw Me" tattoo on my forehead. The glass is half empty and if there wasn't bad luck I wouldn't have any!

And wearing a hat helps..... sometimes!
