That 170 is a steal for that price.

Yes sir - I think so also. Not trying to make money on this one. I think you said it very correctly earlier today - if you grabbed this engine and sent it down to DA for a few hundred bucks you would have virtually a new engine for about $500 less than brand new. I may soon take it off the market and do that myself over the winter. My Sukhoi with that engine on RE3's was a rocket !

Anyway - as Dale knows I lost a virtually brand new AW Extra 150 cc last year to a broken right wing on the 16th flight. Should never have happened. Something wrong with AW quality control. I have another AW Extra 35% with over 350 flights over 4 IMAC seasons. Just bad luck I guess

If they don't get a handle on it soon they may be doomed. Getting to be far too many complaints about wing failures. I have had about ten of their planes and lucky for me they were all good.

I believe Jeff had a Python fold up on him. If I recall he was doing one of my crazy lightning fast rolls when it happened.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Yep! I bought this 43% Carden airframe off a guy and covered it in a Ferrari scheme. The flight after this one the wing folded in a flat spin . Can happen to any. Most critical part of a plane is the wing tube and structure around it

I forgot about that POS. I assume the failure was my fault as result of poor assembly. 5min into the maiden when the top wing broke but didn't completely let go. It was difficult to figure out what the true cause of the failure was because it all fit in a garbage bag, after I found it 2 days later. A Bi Plane doesn't fly worth a damn when the top wings are pointed at different directions.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Picked this up yesterday.
Nice little unit.

DA70

All the bolts are red aluminum . Head, crankcase and carb bolts.
The diaphram cover plate is a nice red anodized and engraved piece.
Atmospheric pressure holes are on the sides.

Called DA today to see if there were any updates for the 70.
Tony was on the other end of the phone
He checked the serial number and said yes there is a reed valve update.
It's a new set of reeds with a reed doubler to stiffen the reeds and keep them from over extending and breaking. I guess there have been reports of some reeds breaking.
So he is throwing the new set of reeds and doublers in the box with the headers I ordered.
4 to 10 days for delivery .
