Brent. Sorry to hear it did not workout as planned. Figure out what went wrong for your own sake. Most importantly grab another plane and fly some relaxing circuits.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I know what went wrong, it started molting parts in the air. Started with left elevator (control arm @ servo, GP used a really cool looking double metal servo arm...) looks like the nylon mount let go, the linkage fell and took off the elevator. (still haven't found it in the crop).

That stress caused the left HS stab to pull the fuse at the back apart.... leading to the failure of the right elevator (too many wires in a single small tube) by pulling it loose from the Rx.

Then it was pull back the throttle, and watch the rest of the show. A plane that has no elevator makes an impressive "woof" sounds when it hits soaking wet clay.

Man That Sucks. I know how you feel. Once the parts start falling off in flight you just get to watch. The good part is at least its not your fault like a dumb thumb crash....... back up on the horse and FLY LOW..... :deadh orse:
LOL Good luck man.

Thanks
Mike

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

That's terrible to hear. I did that to a 100cc ultimate a few years ago. The flight was the best six minute flight I ever had. Total right off. I was hooked after 30 seconds. Picked up another 35%er and jumped back on the horse. Don't look at it as a set back but as an opportunity to get another. Hopefully the engine survived then you are halfway to the next one. A friend had a video of the flight and aftermath. He seamed more upset than me. Funniest thing is I had done a bunch of repairs of the landing gear area and didn't even bother to try them out.
