You can't buy parts for a DA from DA... you have to send the motor down for repair. They do take very good care of their customers and sometimes replace far more than expected for free.

The same applies for 3W... you have to send it to Gerhard at Aircraftinternational.com for repair.

For the ZDZ's, part can be obtained - I rebuilt a crashed 180 with new parts that Michel from AMR got direct from ZDZ for me.

Not sure about MVVS, Moki, Kolm, etc....

Not totally true or perhaps things have changed. I have a good friend that dorked his DA50 into an asphalt runway. He needed a complete rebuild other than the crankcase. He obtained parts directly from DA.

Like I said perhaps this has changed.

Trevor who told you that. I have bought parts off of DA a few times. Everything from rings, carbs, etc right up to complete cylinders. I have bought parts from Gerhard too. Not to that extent though, just the smaller stuff.

The only thing I can think of is maybe they try to do it only with customers that they have an established relationship with and are wary of those that just call up out of the blue asking for parts....

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I am lowering myself to mooching. I am just finishing up a engine test stand and was wondering if anyone here might have a set of the longer stand-offs that they don't need?

I'd rather leave a set with the stand rather than stickin' my hand inside the plane every time I need a set!

Because you never know...... A DA rod might end up in another engine

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Ah... okay! Sorry guys!! I take back what I said about DA and 3W not supplying parts then. I honestly thought that was their policy but I'm obviously wrong. I've sent a few things down to DA for repair (just minor stuff that could happen to any of them like a leaky front bearing, faulty reed block, etc)... I was always told to send it back to them, but I should have pushed the issue a bit more and had them just send me the parts

Thanks Guys!!

Doug... hope you don't mind if I use your name next time I need parts!! If I use mine and I get Tony, he'll likely trace my number and send some fighter jets my way, LOL!!!!
