LOL. Sorry - the previous discussion has me wanting to be a fishermen tonight!!
I often open up an engine at the end of the run-in season. I ran petroleum based (Dino) oil all year. Lots of new engines. But not wanting to break the gaskets on a DA. For fear of disturbing the warrantee. I sent it off, asking why it did not shake as so many claim. Suspecting it may have some GP parts inside it!
(joke).

In reading that (the way it is written). The why is scratching your head about a DA-150.
About the most user friendly 150 size engine out there. I highly recommend it as your first 150-170. They run as advertised, over and over. Nothing worse than an off-field landing at this size.
Or, if you think I know something (as you may be shopping for one), just a guess.
Best time of year to work into the next size class. Best of success (to hell with luck). Do-it! Best thing I ever did in the hobby. My first flights were with a DA-150.

On a serious note Trevor. My DA-120 threw a crankshaft. One rod was loose, lagging in rotation. I thought it was a con-rod bearing. Jeff explained it was nothing I had done wrong. They had only seen this on a very rare occasion. Fixed it up, no charge to me. Shipped it back. And thanked me for my patience.

Rick... You won't be disappointed with a DA150. Definitely stronger motors available now and the "L" version of the 150 is out, which is why I think the prices have dropped.

But I highly recommend one!!

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Just don't understand if it's such a great motor why would so many people be selling them at the moment! (not that I'm complaining!) It will be in the new year before I pick one out.

Bingo. Trevor hit it on the head.
Hype, everyone want's the latest/greatest. I know of no one that complains on the repeatable reliability of their DA-150.
Good timing. Many will be selling to fund their next start.

Bummer . But DA does stand behind their stuff! I'm glad they looked after you. I'm sure Jack is bracing for comments about SHINY but I have nothing else to add!, LOL . I'm feeling very loving tonight with my new cologne
