How do you balance your planes? Just curious since it was neat to see all the different methods and preferences!!! And this isn't a set-up - no ziingers left here to jiggle around, LOL.
Yes, it kept the heavies quiet.

As for Balance. If it get's me off of my stool. It may need a look at!

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Depends more on which oil I am using. Add, weather I have converted the particular airframe over to Hype tanks, or not.

This 3W-170 seems to balance well in my Edge. I couldn't imagine how it would fly with anything lighter under the hood (tailheavy).

Good Morning featherweights.

We will find out soon.
I picked up the same edge and the GP176evo. I have both hype cans and pipes. Not sure which i going to use yet. Dale, what exhaust you using? Whats your servo setup?

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I just went and looked at Hanes' awesome Engine Weight Thread to compare some of the twins in the 150-180cc range... looks like they are all pretty comparable with the ZDZ180 and DA170 being the lightest, but not by much. GP176 in the middle and 3W170and MVVS175 on the upper end, but not by much either.

So my guess is that if Dale's balances well, they all will.

I can't wait to see the 42% Pilot Edge go!! I bet it'll be an impressive set-up!!

I originally had a GP176 in that plane when I first put it together. Here are a couple pics of it. The exhaust is KS95 front exit cans unless Dale has changed them, but I don't think he has yet.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

BTw the only difference in balance was with the GP I used a TruTurn and with the 3W I had to change to a CF. Not much difference.

Nice Doug. Looks great. That Pilot sure looks to be built nice and strong in the fuse, eh??!!!

Also really like the header drop... you really nailed that!!

Was that the original 176 (not the evo)?
