No difference in the process or how you go about tuning them.
But the pipes are more sensitive to the needles being on the rich side. Stock exhaust or cannisters don't mind if the low needle is a little on the rich side.
Pipes will make a rich condition feel either peaky or dead feeling

Gordon, I agree with Brads statement. My pipe experience is noticeably less than the eastern mafia. But, I agree, a mildly rich setting will show itself as quite recognizable. Header length is everything, as a tune for the exhaust. Equating to a smooth power band, and user application/satisfaction.

My preference is pipe(s), then whatever. I have had some very enjoyable user friendly in cowl set-ups.

Now I too have a serious question.

Will my header length tune require to be altered as I take an established set-up from our field here at 2375 ft above sea level, to our Team Pro R/C field in Florida at say 300 ft above sea level?

Dale, I'm not sure these guys are all there.

I'd take on a set of cans anyday as opposed to looking at someone's pipes.

Or, look at it this way.

Canned Onions, or blowing onion juice all over Hell with a pair of RE3's

Yes, and if you really want to get serious it should be tuned (header and needles) for the intended prop.

But can you imagine how complicated and exhausting that would be?

Might need to add three days pre-holiday just to perfect the set-up, for total satisfaction.
