Remember the 3W ignitions... Similar or even worse than DA.

GP could have done the same and said to me and all the others that have had 0 issues that we do not get a replacement engine. Instead they are giving everyone a new one. In addition, while Fergie was at it, he's tweaked other areas for even more power!!

I don't think that's ever been done before.

I couldn't care less if it was GP of Engine XYZ... This type of competition is good news for all modellers

Trev, I was shocked when fergie told me he wanted to replace everyones gp 123 engine. It was proven in the us that a reed block could make the cylinders very close to even fueling. Fergie said it is still not perfect after getting the reed block modification and said he would replace everyones engine instead.
Approx Stats.

100 + or - Gp engines with greater than 10 gal fuel all fine
50 + or - Gp 123 engines that have only ran a little.
27 + or - GP 123 engines that have overheated and scored the front piston

The problem is the engines that scored the front piston almost all did it again or even again.
The good engines remained good.
Probably a few more engines out there that have scored the front cylinder slightly but no one noticed.
One guy took his apart even though it was running good and the front cylinder was slightly scored after many flights.
Trev and I took ours apart and no scoring on either cylinder.

Hope this clarifies for the guys phoning and asking about these engines.
I sold one to a guy in the USA that doesn't want to give his engine back. It is running perfect and he says it will always run perfect.
I convinced him to give it back because I said fergie won't be able to warranty a v1 engine after given the chance to replace it with a v2 engine.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Wow!! That's a huge cost to Fergie. Say his cost is 450/engine.... A $45,000 bill plus all the shipping and returns is tough to swallow in this hobby with low margins and small volume.

Kudos to him... If I were in his position, I'd probably be more focused on fixing the 27 than all 100. That's a respect earner right there. The bar has been raised !!!!
