Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Yeah Jack I agree! The term "cavitation" wasn't mine, it was used in the video. I think we've all seen (our own experience) what I saw on the video. My personal experience was with a lil 30cc on a Beaver. Doinked the 18X8 and didn't have another one, so I substituted a 18X6.

With the 18X6 anything over 5/8 throttle and it didn't do a thing except make more noise, with very minimal increase in speed. But, a lot of guys say that a 3 blade is less efficient than a two blade. I suspect they feel that if the blades are closer together, the "Bite" would be less.

For the most part at my altitude, the engine manufacturers recommendation is real close to mating up an engine to an airframe. This is great 'cause it is a PITA to get 2 blade props close, even more expensive to have 3 blade props shipped in a pizza box. Canada Post luvs guess that buy 3 bladers!!!

How did your power box get nuked?

Don't let me start catching you, then pass you my friend.

Hey, I'm in a good mood tonight.
Now lets see if I get R/C Canada in the garage. Getting set-up for an evening of tinkering with big stuff (cargo trailer stuff).

Not so sure it's cavitiation or if the wrong prop coupled with the engines porting/timing etc the performance only goes so far. I have heard some say once the prop breaks the sound barrier ( favorite thing to do) it becomes useless rpm....however I don't think that's the case. I believe the prop is still pulling harder!
LMAO!! should we post the video of your Carden 300 DA-200 here?? Pretty sure its one of your favorite things to do too........LOL!

This is where I got the prop rippin in my head
