Well the weather is now decent enough for me to start breaking in my new engine.

This plane has a VALACH 120 4 stroke in it.

What an ENGINE!! It about ripped my test stand off of the lower deck.

It was a little rich with the initial settings, but it's now running great, idles at 1180 rpm with a 30 x 14 prop. Top speed is 5110, just slightly above the recommended top end for this engine.

I got to try out my new transmitter with the telemetry and I love the ability to carefully monitor the head temperature.

While the engine was quietly running, (thanks to the special canister from Toni-Clark that was built especially for this engine) I was able to do a reduced power range check.

Only one of four antennae's showed any fades. I'll need to get the airplane out in the open to see if I need to reposition the antennae in question.

A couple more tanks thru it and I'll be all set for JOE NALL!
