I think the right rear switch has to be modified and setup for a launch elevator mix, I need to read more on that.
Any radios that are built ready to go with the switches in the right place and sailplane mixes out of the box?

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Thanks for all the info on servos. Very helpful and timely! I just picked up a DLG kit from Jed (Jeff?) and am shopping for servos, etc. (BTW the kit quality is great and Jed (Jeff?) is a great guy to deal with. His prices can't be beat and he's CDN!)

I have a question about launch technique: do you spin & throw from a standstill or after a short run? I read somewhere that most of the power in a spin/throw comes from your hips and torso so I've been launching from a standstill for the past couple of years. My launch heights were pathetic and I thought it was because I throw like a girl . The last time I was out, I tried running and throwing my DL50 and launch height improved significantly. This doesn't make sense because I'm sure I stop moving forward when I begin the spin. What is your experience?

Ann

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Here is the "master" demonstrating his technique...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=T9mSEZXMYZE

This is a good style to emulate, he launches very smoothly and achieves good heights.

I agree wholeheartly with your comments on Jeff's DLG parts, absolute best quality and value. He certainly deserves the support of our Canadian DLG fraternity. Anne, please post progress pics on this thread of your DLG build, I think there is interest from many of us.

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Thanks, Bob. That's a great video.

I won't be working on the new DLG until the new year, but I will post pics. Here's a pic of the parts I got from Jed/Jeff (Hope he sees this and let's us know his proper name - LOL)

Thanks for the kind words people. Jed/Jeff will both get my attention. You don't want to know my real name. LOL

Tada!
Today I have constructed my first throwing blade. Seems sturdy enough and fits "My" fingers perfectly.

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Going to participate in a postal challenge this Wed. Jan.22 for the Worldwide Women's F3K Postal Challenge. (Just a group of us gals responding to a fellow pilot's suggestion on the 'F3K for Ladies' Facebook page.) The task is longest thermal flight. Should be fun, but very cold. Any suggestions/tips on flying DLG in sub-zero temps would be greatly appreciated!!

Been busy putting Jeff's parts together into a new DLG. Looks purdy, dontcha think? Also done some video on the assembly process. Hope to have this one completed by February.
