Thanks Ann.
It`s great there is some one close into F3k DLG, who is really involved. As I am not much on ordering from the States anymore or overseas.
I will be looking for a good used competition class CF DLG soon, that is, when I get back into the work force! As I just retired from being self employed after 31 years (Im 47). I plan on spending at least $600 or $700 for a good beat up model.

A friend gave me is mosquito class HK DLG. And I soon found out how addictive it can be, and started surfing the web on everything I could find on F3K.

I was always not much into gliders. And I have been flying RC for 35 years (since I was 12). The DLG is one of the coolest things I have ever done. And that`s coming from a guy who is currently flying a 55cc Aeroworks 33% Edge 540 on a MTW tuned pipe among other models.

I have my own 300 foot sod strip on my farm, so when I can afford a good DLG later this year, I`ll look U up on here and give you a shout and we can get together and do some chucking!

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

There are quite a few of us dlg-ers around. My glider club has a flying field just this side of Binbrook and a bunch of us fly our dlgs from there. You should definitely join us for a chucking session!

The Central Ontario Glider Group is having a f3k competition next Saturday, May 24 at their field north of Schomberg. If you're interested in heading up there, email me: tekatch@sympatico.ca
Cheers
Ann

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Bob,

I tried to watch your videos from a couple of pages back. The first one ran fine but now when I select any of the links it goes to the video but nothing plays. Any suggestions on how I can get the videos to run?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Not sure. They seem to load up and run fine for me, at least on my ipad. I don't think vimeo has made any changes that affect access and video play. Maybe check your graphics settings.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Bob.

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Hey Guys,

I just put together my first DLG:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...00mm_arf_.html

I wanted to try a relatively cheap version to try out the sport. I know it's not the best DLG, but it's seems like a good cheap starter plane. It's flying pretty well and I'm practicing my launch technique.

It works on rudder and elevator only (no ailerons/flaperons/spoilers ect). It seems to pull left due to the finger hold on the left side. Also, it seems to stall constantly and lose some altitude right after reaching the launch apex and leveling out.

Should I be programming a launch mode into my transmitter (Spectrum DX6i)? Any recommendations would be helpful.

Also, Does anyone know of a good spot in the Toronto area for finding thermals or slopes to lengthen the flight times? I have only tried it at my local flying field (Humber Valley) where it is just a flat field.

Thanks,

Cam

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Cam, welcome to the DLG sports.

I have flown at the Humber Valley field before. There are thermo when the condition is right. Just need to watch and co-ordinate with other power flyers.

As in Toronto area, with the smaller DLG, any open field or park may do. What you'll need to to do it on a warm sunny day when the wind is not too much. You'll enjoy more frequent thermo and be able to stay in it longer.

If we can travel, there are some DLG pilots at Cooks Town at the COGG field, Check them out.

Re: DLG/HLG Gliders Thread

Hey all,

I'm just putting some finishing touches on my Neo DLG (from flightcomp), a full-size carbon deal.

I'll be flying at the Mississauga club in August and onwards if there is anyone interested in joining.
