Re: looking for red cat RC info

ive heard mixed things but a close freind bought three of them including the 1/5 scale.
upgrade parts are hard to find and the few times we did go out and run them something always goes wrong dog bones pop out or drive cups break i also find the plastic is soft. remember you get what you pay for im sure with some work and mods they should be fine he bought them for the kids to fool around with but if was me id stick with something that has good parts support and aftermarket support IMO

If you know theres no more juice in the cells DONT TAKE OFF!!!!

Re: looking for red cat RC info

You get what you pay for. I have one of their little Sumos and the ESC/receiver fried after a month of very infrequent use. Redcat was great shipping out the replacement part but instead of a nice plugged connection, the repair took soldering - so not for the faint of heart.

I know others who have their larger 1/8th scale and love them.

Parts support is spotty but if you find a local dealer that stocks parts, you might be ok.
Current models: Hobbico Nexstar Electric, Parkzone Spitfire Mk IX , several micros/small helis. Nothing nitro/gas.

Re: looking for red cat RC info

you can get parts from redcat iam still learing my self alot about the redcats but i just got the rs10 1/10 scale crawler and its solid and i waited to see reviews and there are mods you can do as well , and there are alot a places that sell redcat parts as well, as for aftermarket stuff i dont know alot yet but iam not complaing traxxas wants almost 800.00 for a similar crawler so 229. plus tax for the red cat i can live with and mine is the upgrade version of the rs10 so less problems out of the box for me already

Re: looking for red cat RC info

I bought a lightning just because it was cheap ($149+tax), havent had any problems. Parts are available from the official supplier in Brampton Ontario, they stock most of the common parts and even sell packages for the trucks that include arms and things. But I would still rather buy a used traxxas.

Re: looking for red cat RC info

They are great for the price but once you need parts or upgrades, that when its not fun. There are maybe 3 places in the GTA that carries parts but even then chances are you will have to order them in.

Traxxas may be more expensive but you can visit every single shop in the GTA to find what you need. I'm here in Hong Kong and people here rather pay more for Traxxas than use the China crap. I went to visit almost every shop in town and maybe saw one shop that carries Redcat parts.

I have a Redcat Tornado EPX pro that I turned into a Redcat Volcano EPX pro and I find that they come with a lot of parts that you have to order after on a lot of the more expensive models. (bearings brushless etc) I can also order Alum parts from China for less than half the price. (cost $83.00 retail $275.00) free shipping 12 days. A lot of BSD, HSP and Himoto parts fit the Redcat vehicles.
