Construction and building must be taking a back seat to flying now. Including myself!

Here is a decal my nephew requested for his baseball helmet.
A flaming skull related to baseball. Flames are not easy!
His other choice wasn't going to happen with his mother. LOL!

Turned out pretty good overall. It is sized to a 3 1/2" width.

Re: Vinyl Graphics Cutters

Wow good job. I didn't realize you can to that with this machine. Wish I was closer to watch you work with the Silhouette.

Outstanding! I Haven't done much with the Silhouette recently, just too busy with summer. If you ever have the time or desire, it would be great if you could provide a short tutorial on how you accomplished such a detailed, multilayer graphic

Re: Vinyl Graphics Cutters

I haven't really touched the Silhouette myself and this was a rushed job as I promised I would have it done for the start of the season. Took about five evenings to put together. Heck I haven't even upgraded the software to the latest version yet!

The original artwork is not mine but I traced it for the basics.
It was a major clean-up and I had to change the flames to something I could cut out of vinyl.
The vinyl is all inset not layered and any black is the colour of the helmet showing through cut holes and lines. Less work that way.
Not sure of the durability as helmets are abused. Dropped on gravel and cement.
I have also added his team number, his name and another small graphic on the helmet.
The flaming skull is the cool aspect.

Another issue I came across was the curved shape of the helmet. The vinyl started to fold over onto itself near the outer edges when I was applying the finished decal to the helmet. I was able to work it out and hide it because of the cut lines in the wings. This was something new I haven't encountered before.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Chris

I have upgraded the software and it works fine. Used it for a couple of projects and they was no glitches.

Re: Vinyl Graphics Cutters

Thanks to Carlisler i ended up buying a Expert 24 LX with optical pick up.
Ive done mostly shirts and very limited graphics.

I bought a decent size heat press as well but its not the largest. Pressing 3+ XL sized shirts gets tricky and its not the best setup area of my house for doing this stuff.

Im also not doing a whole lot of layering of vinyl, just single color

Re: Vinyl Graphics Cutters

My wife cut this out for me on her Cameo. She mirrored it for the other side as well. All I can say is it works great.
