Re: Warbird picture thread

It was an old Nitro Tigermoth from Great Planes. Standard Yellow. I converted it to e-power and then changed the finish. Very loosely based on a fully camouflaged full scale I found online.

Re: Warbird picture thread

That is one shiny B-29! Is that the one you built as the carrier for the X-1?

Latest addition to my "air force": H9 P47D-1. Flies like a dream, amazingly easy to land. Absolutely horrible to assemble! At one point I commented that I wondered if it wasn't part of a plot to resurrect kit building. Although the folks at H9 say the latest production batch has all the complaints from the earlier resolved.

Re: Warbird picture thread

Nothing Special - ESM Hurricane. DLE 35R, stock retracts. Tough on the ground, flies nice, hard to convince myself it can slow down to land - it will, but my thumbs won't.

But this kind of picture makes all the scale effort worth while..

Re: Warbird picture thread

She's a thing of beauty! Did you have that on display at the Truro warbirds event in 2013? I recall drooling over one there.

Re: Warbird picture thread

Ahah!!!! those were your drool marks.....well, I left them alone and they've become part of the weathering!!

Yes, it was mine on display, I think some of the electronics hadn't quite been finished. Plus I was dithering about trying to get the gear door lined up. Plus I still had the DLE30 in it...plus I....plus I...

Hard to take off - about 1/2 throttle, as soon as the tail comes up the plane swings hard left. If you're sharp you can catch it, otherwise you're taking off the edge of the runway LOLOL
