I can add a little to this- was flying a Blade MCP-X, which is a small indoor CP heli. It was nose in, about a foot away, in steady hover, and I was landing it on my outstretched hand, (transmitter in other hand) which I had done dozens of time before, (I know it's showing off, but I'm sure lots of heli people do the same thing).
Suddenly came forward and took a good slice of skin off my hand in several places, blood all over the place, actually looked worse than it was, but I ended up dropping the transmitter, an expensive lesson. I now use a neck strap.
I still am not sure what happened, maybe touched the collective on my shirt or something, pretty sure it was pilot error, not a fault in the heli.
Anyway, lessons learnt- keep both hands on the transmitter at all times and land the thing a couple of feet away from yourself, even small heli's have the potential to really hurt someone!
