workbench clutter

I'm I the only that does this. Once in awhile I get so evolved in a project a forget to put things away as I use them. I soon find myself working on that last sq ft of bench that doesn't already have stuff all over it. Finally you just have to stop and clean it up. I keep saying it wont happen again but it does. Someone invent a self-cleaning work bench please!

Re: workbench clutter

Ditto on both of the above!
I have way too many #6 washers and now I am out of 2-56 & 4-40 locknuts... I swear locknuts are what I bought last time at the LHS..

I love it when my wife comes into the shop and says "Didn't you just clean this last week, maybe you need to do it all this time...."
Did you see that........I actually meant to do that...

Re: workbench clutter

Workbench clutter. I seem to have that problem. I do try to put my tools back on their hooks after I use them. Just so I can easily find them again when I need them.
I try to clean the workbench off when I start a new project or when there is no room left on the bench and I am building on the floor.
Still, I feel if the clutter is not accumulating, you are not building. I am always suspicious of people who post pictures of something they are building and they don't have a dust particle on the workbench.
Gawd you could eat directly off their benches.

If you want awesome, you have to scratch build it!

Re: workbench clutter

Buy a UPS!

There is no bench just a holder for your AC!

See the latest update to the thread...

(Now if I could only find the space in my shop for a UPS... )

Re: workbench clutter

Oh man do I belong in this thread!

The bench in my workshop is so cluttered, I have to wait until spring to do any big projects... so I can use the Workmate in the garage!

Re: workbench clutter

ever spend more time looking for that screw driver you literally just put down, than actually needing to use it! I hate looking for tools, especially when i just used it 30 seconds prior to looking for it again!

Re: workbench clutter

I only clean the bench and shop when a project is finished and preparing to start the next.
