FPV gear on Hex

Anyone have a hex with FPV camera and Gimbal camera on it? Can you take some shots or describe your setup?

I'm thinking of the DJI iOSD Mark II to manage the FPV and main camera. Looks like the iOSD supports 2 camera inputs and will let me switch between them, but the transmitter voltage is only equal to the battery. Since I plan on using 6S, I'm thinking I'll have to use a voltage regulator for the transmitter.

Anyway, I'm trying to get some ideas on how to mount the FPV gear to the quad. If anyone has done this already, please share what you have done.

For example, do you mount gear on an extra battery plate? Are you using a seperate FPV battery for 12V input? Camera switcher?

Re: FPV gear on Hex

A clean 12v stepdown regulator will work, if it can take 6s and current load. I use the flight battery(4s) to power everything, 12v reg for 12v video gear. I have used the live feed out of my recording camera to fly and film FPV. I'm planning on swapping to a fixed FPV camera facing forward, use a video switcher to go between the FPV camera and recording camera(for framing the shot). Since your iosd has a two camera input, you don't need the extra switcher, just a two way switch on your tx. Post some pics of your setup so we can see what you have.

Re: FPV gear on Hex

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning toward a setup like you describe. I'd prefer not to use a seperate FPV battery, so I see Foxtech FPV has some regulators I could use.

I figured the iOSD is a great solution for some limited telemetry and the camera switcher.

Just have to figure out how I will mount this FPV camera.

I like the TBS Discovery Pro, because they have this all figured out, but I really wanted to try a Hex build this time.

Re: FPV gear on Hex

Starting my order for the T810

Frame - $325USD | http://www.foxtechfpv.com/tarot-t810...er-p-1043.html

Landing Gear - $84.79USD | http://www.foxtechfpv.com/t810t960-f...od-p-1055.html

Extra plate, since I'll be mounting the ESC's under the main plate, instead of the arms - $91.99USD | http://www.foxtechfpv.com/t810t960-m...er-p-1053.html

Gimbal mount kit - $17.59USD | http://www.foxtechfpv.com/t810t960-g...it-p-1145.html

Extra battery plate, just in case I need additional mounting room - $13.19USD | http://www.foxtechfpv.com/tarot-t810...at-p-1300.html

I'm trying to decide between the cheaper Foxtech S4016 380KV, or the better quality (and more expensive) T-motor MT3515-15 400KV motors.

For ESC's, either the Hobbywing Flyfun OPTO 40A, or iPeaka 40A OPTO.

As for flight controllers, I had always planned to use the Naza v2, but I've started looking at the Xaircraft SuperX standard (Hex support)

Banggood has the DYS 3-axis GoPro gimbal on sale for $182USD, so I orderd one: http://www.banggood.com/DYS-3-axis-S...2127_899351_35
