ESC/Bec parallel with battery in RX?

Has anyone ever tried running a 4.8V battery with a 4.8v ESC/Bec?
Both the BEC and ESC will be plugged into the RX.
For simplicity, the switch between the battery and the RX has not been shown in the above diagram.
The BEC is plugged into the throttle channel as per usual. Once the main Lipo battery is plugged into the ESC and the RX powers up, then the NiMh battery is switched "on".
My reasoning says that the battery will act as a capacitor and should not harm the ESC/BEC. Of course, the condition is that the battery is charged to the same output voltage of the BEC so that it does not put too much load on the BEC (If it were too low, the BEC has to charge it).
Have I missed anything?
Before I try experimenting with this, has anyone had any experience with this, or has heard of anyone else doing this?
