Sorry for the late reply to this thread but I guess I was busy with some other stuff...

Thanks Snowman for the links as I finally found the info I was looking for on the OpenRC forum. That's the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks Jim for the offer but I'm ok now as I figured it out.

And just to get some facts straight as there always seems to have lots of speculation going around...

Well, I'm certainly not new to the hobby as I've been building and flying model airplanes for close to 40 years but I am new to helicopters.

I do own 2 Futaba radios which are working fine but they are 72mhz and the receivers have long antennas. That's the only reason why I bought a 2.4 radio for my helo. I wanted short antennas. The whole 9XR radio with a 2.4 module with telemetry capability, accessories and 2 receivers cost me about the price of just one Futaba receiver...

The Turnigy 9XR (NOT the 9X) is actualy a great radio when combine with the FrSky module and receivers (NOT the Orange module). The FrSky module is actualy known to offer top of the line 2.4 technology on par or better than what is offered by "the big boys" of the industry. It is not a piece of crap.

One of my good buddy is what you could probably call an expert in the field of r/c helicopter and has competed in Europe and North America. Therefore, there was no problem to set up the mechanical part of my helo once the radio programming was figured out. The only problem really was the fact that he use Futaba and he flies in Mode 1. We were having a hard time figuring out how to program the new Turnigy 9XR radio as the menu offer a lot of possibility and the language in the menu for programming is somewhat different than in the Futaba. We got the radio now programmed, the helo all set-up and I'm ready for test flying.

In any case, thanks to all who tried to help, at least the moral support was appreciated.

Disclaimer: Having said that, this is just my personal opinion, I might be wrong, please don't quote me, have a nice day.
