If you need a twin that gives you 'a bit' more room in the cowl why not try a BME116.....26.4 cm (10.4") plug tip to plug tip and the plugs are angled backward vs about 29.0 cm (11.4") for the DA100.

And let's not talk about the difference in weight

Da100 will fit and I need the weight because of the short nose moment

Mounted the Wings on the Beaver today. This build is not for the faint of heart.

Re: Beaver Fever in Southern Ontario

Wings are done and ready for covering. Only criticisms about the wing is who mounts a servo in the middle of rib and no shear webs. Made no sense to me and changed it. Also be very careful making the wing joiners as a little to much epoxy can really ruin your day. I used bar soap on the wing joiner to lubricate and prevent the epoxy from sticking. Wish the design was updated to wing tubes. Flaps turned out well, I used Robart gear door hinges and they worked great. For the fuselage you better be good at bending balsa and have lots of 1/8" SOFT sheeting. Also I would change the 1/8" stringers to 1/4" which would give you more glue area when sheeting. Mounting the stab next week, not looking forward to that. There is alot left to the imagination with this plan so go slow.

Re: Beaver Fever in Southern Ontario

The wings are pretty much done, Doors are finished and windows installed. Been working on the aft end, I was going to mount the elevator servos in the back but as this has such short nose moment decided to move the servo's to the cabin area. Once I have that all done I will finish sheeting the fuselage. I was hoping to get this done for this summer but doubt that will happen as other projects have taken priority.

Re: Beaver Fever in Southern Ontario

nice work Mike!
If you need any specific Beaver detail pics, PM me. There are a dozen beavers within an hr's drive of me. There is one that is almost bone stock original (not even the porthole rear window).

Thanks for your offer of help but there is a crap load of pictures on the internet. I am not going to go crazy doing scale details on it. This build is one of the most work intensive aircraft I have built, I was surprised at that. Putting it on floats and getting the retracts to work is going to be a challenge.

RCAF lists that they had one beaver and this is how I envisioned it to be and how I am going to do mine with floats.
