Okay, I'm a bit rusty. What software do I need to print PDF plans that are larger than my printer format? Found some interesting ones on a UK site for a Clancy plane and there's a gazillion other ones to choose from.

Re: Printing PDF Plans

Thanks for the link. I've done this but differently & to get my long pages I used the old fan fold tractor paper I had on hand. If I needed a print that was longer (or taller) than 8.5 X 11 I would remove the perferated sides from the paper & feed it in using a custom paper size based on just how many sheets I left attached. 5 sheets allowed a printed plan section that was up to 55 inches.

Re: Printing PDF Plans

Go to Staples, they can print it on 36" wide paper (any length) at any scale for a small price. No need to tape a bunch of sheets together.

Your PDF file can be opened in Illustrator or Photoshop, rescaled to whatever size you want and saved as a PDF file at that size. Then simply print it from Photoshop, Illustrator or Acrobat in tiles if you cannot print it in full size.

You could also make a long page at your printer's max width or several pages just by cutting and pasting as required to suit your paper size.

In my experience, most of these PDF file plans are severely distorted. That can easily be corrected in either Photoshop or Illustrator.

Re: Printing PDF Plans

I used to print multiple sheets and tape/glue them together until I discovered a local print shop (Wadetech) that can expand or reduce your pdf plan to any scale. Most professional print shops can print E-sized sheets while you wait. The time and aggravation saved is well worth the few bucks it costs.

Probably don't need to ad this, but make sure you have a good quality image in your pdf if you are going to blow up the plans significantly or the lines get pretty fuzzy and wide...
