Well winter months do not offer up a lot of quality flying time and shorter days=less stick time. Using a simulator will save money and time and will truly make the sunny flyable days that much more addictive and enjoyable.

Re: i have a dream

I'm going to be the one to go out on a limb here and also say, get a bigger helicopter. Far easier to see, and way more stable. Yes, the downside, more expensive to buy and repair.

I started years ago with a Hirobo Shuttle which would equate to roughly a 500 class helicopter today. With inferior electronics compared to today and training gear made out of a hula hoop, I was able to get up flying around in no time. My first crash with it was during my second season when I was more daring with it and did some loops and well, the original shuttles did more like a l than an O. The last loop of the day was a figure 9.

My second helicopter, an X-Cell 60 which equates to about a 650 class today. Never a single crash. Looped, rolled, did a few very short moments of inverted. Again, this was with old electronics from 20+ years ago. Yes, I know that's tame flying by today's standards, but back then, that was hot doggin'.

I left the flying scene when my daughter was born, just couldn't afford it. I'm currently flying an 800 class gasser. Yes, I'm really rusty at it and taking my time getting the hang of it again, but not a single crash. A couple of scares with loosing orientation, but it's highly visible and with its size, things happen a bit slower. Do I recommend going that large to start with? Probably not, but if you can fly that little 130, I guarantee you could fly this thing. Not looking forward to a crash with it because I know it won't be cheap. Probably why I'm still getting the hang of flying again, it's intimidating and I don't want to find out the negatives the hard way.

Oh... and get a SIM
Two wrongs don't make a right, but two Wrights will make an airplane.

My Heli: Futaba 18MZ 2x(JR GSR260Z Sports FBL, Zenoah G26H, Futaba CGY750 Gyro, Futaba BLS-351 cyclic, BLS-251 tail, Futaba BLS-451 Throttle. Gryphon voltage regulator).
