Tower Hobbies - learned my lesson

As I was taking my new-to-me DLE 30 apart to lap the carburetor and reed block mating surfaces, this happened.

I went looking for a DLE 30 gasket set and found that Tower Hobbies had them at $3.99. Cool! Cheapest shipping rate: $16.99 (7-14 days). Not so cool. And if there's a way to send them an email inquiry I couldn't find it.

Still, if gouging on shipping is part of the price of living in this great country it's a small price to pay, I needed the gaskets, and nobody else seemed to have them (well, TBM did but don't get me started on THEIR shipping-to-Canada policies). At the price I ordered two sets; the shipping rate didn't change and a spare set might come in handy.

The next morning a little bell went off and I dropped in at Great Hobbies, which is 5 minutes away. Yes, Tower is one of their suppliers and yes, they could get the gaskets. Furthermore, they can get about 95% of the stuff on the Tower website. I went home and tried to cancel the Tower order online but it didn't appear to work. I called the 800 number and spoke to Theresa who was very nice and rather sympathetic but no, the order had gone to the warehouse for processing and couldn't be canceled and no, a cheaper shipping rate was not available.

Live and learn sometimes translates spend and learn. Next time I go to Great Hobbies first.

Re: Tower Hobbies - learned my lesson

Orleans hobbies, Manny is great at getting stuff like that quick as well.
DLE is distributed by Great Planes and Azure which basically everyone deals with.

Which is why IMHO DLE is a good choice for engines as they are supported better than most.

don't ask why I own mainly DA than........
