Hi RCíers
My name is Marc, and Iím kind of new in the hobby so I taught Iíd share my little winter project Iím working on. A couples months back, I ordered the Exceed F18 70mm PNP version from Find-Hobby.com that include x5 servos, 6 bladed EDF unit, a 60amp esc and a brushless motor of 2770kv. So my plan was to replace the 6 blades EDF fan for a 10 blades change sun, and use a Cyclone Power brushless motor around 2800kv to 3000kv, running on a 4s 3000mah 14.8v. But, after watching youtubeís video over and over of some people EDF power unit, I decided to ordered a EDF unit that comes with the motor already pre-install, pre-balanceÖ the Alloy 10 blades 70mm EDF that as 3000kv and as for maximum power 1200 watts! For around 85$ Iíll be running it with a 4000mah 14.8v 60C with a 100amp esc, maybe K-force or even hobbywing platinum.
So what are you guys think? I was hoping to get a little better weigh/thrust ratio than 1:1.
According to find-hobby, the flying weigh of the aircraft is 1130g with a 2200mah.

Please let me know what you think!

Re: Exceed F-18 project

Well with that battery and the MT/Lander fan your weight will go up as the fan unit is quite a bit heavier than stock. Good news is this fan should give you 1.5-1.8kg thrust depending on how clean your install is and what kind of airflow you wind up with so you will be very close to 1:1 thrust.
