Skylark Dianmu OSD Autopilot Help

Hey Guys

I'm trying to setup the skylark osd but I just can't get it.

The plane is a skysurfer , I'm using a Dragon Link V2 uhf system with the Dianmu osd. I have tried moving the control horns in some to make the controls less. I have every servo setting at only 15 which doesn't do a lot. If I turn them up to 35-40 the wobbles back and forth and will not hold altitude. I can get it close to hold the side to side but I can not get the elevator to work properly. Most settings will cause it to lose altitude or hold altitude for a short period then suddenly go into a 15 degree nose dive. Getting very frustrated

Any ideas ?

Re: Skylark Dianmu OSD Autopilot Help

I am not familiar with that particular OSD.

Is there a test for RTH to make sure your controls are moving in the right direction?

The plane needs to be set up mechanically perfect before you install any OSD in it. Have you flown the plane without the OSD and the transmitter output set to 100% first? It needs to fly smooth and stable at 100% If not, you need to adjust the servo output throws and/or adjust the linkages on the control horns to get it to fly smooth without any TX programming. Once that is done right, the OSD should have a better chance of controlling the plane without over-controlling it.

Yes I have mechanically setup the plane to fly level and keep altitude. Minimal subtrim was required to get it set in the air

Re: Skylark Dianmu OSD Autopilot Help

I am also not familiar with Dianmu. I have setup up Eagle tree, Storm and various wing leveller units. Storm was the easiest - just go into calibration mode and it automatically recognizes servo direction and travel from your stick inputs. Looking at Dianmu manual this is nearly identical. autopilot servo direction should be easy to check on the ground by manipulating the plane. but like I said, I never uses Dianmu

Also need to ensure the flight controller is set for level flight. Some just do that when powered up.

but really, should just investigate and get help on the Skylark Dianmu thread of RCGroups.
