Good luck on your P-40, it will bring you lots of fun. Let us know how it works out with yur engine choice.

Yesterday I was cleaning the photos off my phone and found this P-40 photo, it brought me a big smile, it was taken at Gimli this past summer, I sure miss summer.

This P-40 was built by a retired RCAF buddy of mine - Tex, the P-40 in the colours of Stocky Edwards a RCAF WWII ace, Tex was in the same squadron with Stocky Edwards in the late 50s'.Tex sold me the plane last year when he had to move out of his house to an apt.

I'm getting to the point, when the siren screams (yes we have an old hand crank siren at the field) and you scramble with your buddies and do a bunch of worm burner passes and victory rolls with your warbirds, you don't really hear your engine that much, the thrill of flying formation with your buds eclipses all those short coming with your r/c warbird, such as sound, rivets, panel lines, shape, colors, mufflers, ....................

This P-40 is a N model, Stocky flew a E model Kittyhawk, does it matter when the four of us are screaming by a few feet off the ground for all of us are thinking, can I get lower on the next pass.

So get that P-40 built and get out there with your warbird flying buds and do a bunch of warbird scrambles!

ps. The DLE 50, 55's, Brison 3.2's work for me.

I never flew the CF-100 but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express! I'm on Facebook as KPK Warbirds.

Re: Yellow Aircraft P-40

Hi Mike I have been building large scale war birds for years. Forget electric they just do not give you a true war bird sound. You can make a scale exhaust with out spending a lot of money, But it would be for a large gasser motor with a rear Pitts style muffler. looks pretty cool when taxing out to take off and exhaust is blowing out six exhaust stacks on each side. It takes a bit of work but it is not hard to do. If you are interested get back to me I am a 1 finger typist it would take hours to explain with one finger. maybe a phone call or letter with diagram.
