Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

I have installed the elevator and rudder servo assembly. I'm using Hitec 645MG, they produce 133oz of torque, more than the manual suggested 90oz. I used Dubro 4-40 ball links, Sullivan pull pull eyes and Kevlar cable. The servo arms are Airwild. I also made the cable exits at the rear of the fuse. These will be just slits after the covering has been applied.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

The fuselage has been sheeted with 3/32 balsa and 1/16 birch. The rear sheeting has some serious curves. I tacked down the outer edges and then from underneath I CA'd the stringers to the sheet. This pulled everything together nicely. The cockpit opening includes the area where the twin Spandaus will sit. Plan is to have a 1/3 Iron Aces pilot and a semi detailed cockpit.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

Got back around to the tail skid assembly. A large spring is mounted to a tail post and then to the skid. I will take some time later to put some brass skid plates on and detail it up a bit. I also gave the skid a coat of dark stain.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

Started the frt top portion of the cowl last night. This will house the dummy engine and cover the top part of the engine compartment. It is standard lite ply construction with formers, stringers and birch sheeting. The radiator assembly will dictate how far forward the 3W75 will go. The 1/4" plywood firewall is floating, and the fuse at 9" wide makes for a very roomy engine compartment. I guess I have to start thinking about an exhaust for this bird. Udets DVII had 2 pipes coming out of the side of the fuse just below the dummy engine cylinder head. This should be easy to replicate with the 3W75 and a side mounted can muffler.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

Hey Scott. If you make a wood template or drawing of the muffler, we can make one from aluminum or stainless if you need the weight. Just a thought.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

I assembled the radiator portion of the cowl. The wire mesh was easy to install and really makes this section of the model. I recently picked up a new DLE85. I need to decide which motor I will use..... 3W75 or the DLE85......Suggestion's?
