Thanks Bill! I'm having Lance at Bisson Mufflers make me a special exhaust....Well worth the $ to have a scale looking and quiet sounding muffler!

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

I started to get all of the little detail work done this weekend. I used litho plate and fine screws to attach the engine inspection covers. I also used litho and sawed off wing bolts as the gas caps. As with the upper tail struts I used Dubro 4-40 strut attachments and air foiled hard wood. I made the fuel tank using a Dubro 40oz, Dubro fuel barbs and a Sullivan large filter clunk. The electronics will be as follows, 2 x Fromeco 2600mah Lions going to a Fromeco Wolverine switch then to a Flight power regulator finishing off at a Futaba 6008HS Rx. I will be using the Smart Fly ignition kill system.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

I have mounted the throttle and choke servos. Short runs with 4-40 rods and ball links. I have also got the 40oz Dubro fuel tank made and installed. I will be mounting the Fromeco Wolverine switch and fuel filler behind an inspection panel on the side of the fuse.

I love that second photo, showing the child proof barrier between your two year old's toys and your toys, er, model ...... parenting and safety of both child and model combined.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

I wanted to make the fuel and Wolverine switch hidden so I decide to hide it behind one of the scale access panels in the cowl. I cut the hinge to length and will use magnets to keep it closed. I complete one of the two scale large access panels that will fit on each side of the model.

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

Thanks Phil!

The detail process seems to take the longest! I finished the center section of the top wing with red Solartex and rib stitching. I also was able to get some red paint on the struts, cabanes and cowl. These will be given a light brush of latex to dull them up a bit. The dummy engine also got its gloss black paint and will also be getting some more detail bits in the near future. I guess all that is left is to start covering the fuselage.....

Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

I've started to top coat the bits and pieces with Behr Ultra Premium latex paint. This gives them the correct colour and satin look. I started by spraying them with red to give them a base coat of colour. The top coat is a really lite streaky coat of latex. I also started to paint the top wings, again with a very lite streaky coat of latex. The lite coat of satin paint really brings out the detail like rib stitches etc. The white stripes will be masked and spray painted.
